Thursday, April 2nd, 2009. Today Fabrizio Ferrari, Chairman of IREALP, welcomed at the IREALP Chiuro headquarters a delegation comprising Giulio De Capitani, Chairman of the Lombardy Regional Assembly, Marco Cipriano, Vice-Chairman of the Lombardy Regional Assembly, Secretary Councillors Carlo Maccari and Battista Bonfanti, and Councillor Carlo Spreafico, on behalf of the Fourth Council Commission (Production Activities).
The meeting gave the highest representatives of the Lombardy Regional Assembly an opportunity to visit the historical building which hosts some of the Foundation’s most significant activities. The delegation then moved to the council chamber, where IREALP’s many activities supporting Lombardy’s mountain areas were illustrated.
"I would like to express the greatest satisfaction with the existence and activity of this high-quality Institute that bolsters Regione Lombardia’s prestige”, stated Giulio De Capitani, Chairman of the Regional Assembly. “During this morning’s conversation with IREALP’s Board of Directors and Chairman I perceived their passion and high focus on mountain areas. Today’s meeting was especially fruitful: together with IREALP, we envisaged a host of potential synergies - the first one of which will be the Institute’s scientific support to political and legislative activities concerning mountain-related issues”.
Fabrizio Ferrari told his guests: “As far as mountain-related topics are concerned, our Foundation can and must promote a closer co-operation among institutions at all levels. In this framework, IREALP also operates at a European level as it has its own branch in the Lombardy Brussels office”. Mr Ferrari’s recent appointment as Vice-Chairman of Euromontana further reinforces this strategic role. “Moreover, our decision to move the Institute’s registered office to Chiuro has been intended to boost the local surroundings and to serve as a reminder that small but relevant businesses – not only on the manufacturing side – can find their most appropriate scope of action in these areas ”.
Regional Councillor Carlo Spreafico took the floor and spoke on behalf of the Production Activity Commission about the development of mountain areas. “The Fourth Council Commission has steadily focused on mountain issues. IREALP can help us in this effort by, among other things, taking a clear and well-structured message to Europe”, he said.
The Chairman of the Sondrio Province, Fiorello Provera and the Mayor of Chiuro, Guido Melé, also voiced their satisfaction with IREALP’s presence during the meeting’s closing remarks.
At the end of the Regional Assembly’s visit, there was a highly appreciated cooking demonstration by the Vice-Chairman of the Italian Federation of Cooks, Fernando Bassi of Geocooking s.r.l. whose Chairman, Gian Enrico Ghilotti, recently signed a protocol with IREALP which provides for operating synergies aimed at promoting typical mountain food and farming products. Fernando Bassi made risotto with Sassella wine in the kitchens of the Chiuro IREALP headquarters, which are soon to host a series of training courses planned by the recently established Territorial Laboratory.
