Defining a role of the mountains in the field of energy and clarify it in the form of a common position paper to be presented to the new European Committee, in operation at the end of 2009. In brief, this is the objective of the task that IREALP and Euromontana have taken on.
The next step will be taken at an international forum organised by Euromontana and IREALP on 19th and 20th November 2009 in Sondrio. At this meeting, which will be held in the presence of all of Euromontana’s members, the common position papaer will be presented and ratified, bringing life to a union of Europe’s mountain territories on the theme of renewable energy,
The document which will be presented to the European Committee will also contain a series of best practices in place in different mountain areas in Europe, from wind and geothermal power plants in Scandinavia to the cutting edge energy of Alpine regions.
